| Yule (Winter Solstice) - 22nd December A time for feasting and readying for the coldest winter months. The shortest day of the year, we celebrate the end of the dark half of the year and the return to power of the Sun God. Symbolically, the Holly King, King of Waning Year is at the peak of his power, he is betrayed and killed, to be replaced by the Oak King, King of the Waxing Year. After the rituals, we have a feast and fire and we also decorate our Yule tree and invite friends, family and neighbours to enjoy a festive evening of Pagan celebrations. Singing, dancing and playing games take up most of this joyous sabbat. "There will come a time when you believe everything is finished. That will be the beginning." Louis L'Amour Festivals |
