Summer Solstice - 22nd June

The Summer Solstice or Midsummer is the longest day of the year and another wonderful celebration – we rejoice in the full abundance of the height of the summer and decorate our Glade and ourselves with summer herbs, greenery, and summer flowers.

During the ritual, the Oak King, King of the Waxing Year falls to his twin, the Holly King, King of the Waning Year and the darker half of the year begins. We rejoice afterwards with feasting on summer produce, singing and merry-making around the fire.

"You must understand the whole of life, not just one little part of it. That is why you must read, that is why you must look at the skies, that is why you must sing, and dance, and write poems, and suffer, and understand, for all that is life." (Krishnamurti)
