| Imbolg 2nd February Also known as Candlemas or the Festival of Lights, Imbolg means “in the belly” and at this festival, we celebrate fertility, the lengthening of the day and the impending rush of life of spring. We light many lamps, candles and a fire to celebrate the fertility of nature around us and to represent the increasing power of the Sun over the coming months. Seeds are used in the ritual and included in the foods for the feast as they represent the dormant nature that is about to be awakened.
